El asunto de Libia, en el que Romney quedó dramáticamente expuesto a la realidad de que mintió al afirmar que Obama no había calificado el ataque de Bengasi como un acto terrorista –en realidad, lo hizo al día siguiente- fue un verdadero mazazo que, de repente, puso sobre el escenario, ante 70 millones de espectadores en televisión, todas las sospechas sobre la credibilidad del aspirante republicano.

A los electores les importa saber en qué circunstancias se produjo la muerte de su embajador en Libia y las responsabilidades que su Gobierno tiene en ese asunto, si es que hay alguna. Pero, en momentos como este, en el que fuerzas extranjeras atacan intereses de Estados Unidos, el reflejo de los norteamericanos suele ser el de hacer piña con su presidente, y toleran malamente los intentos de utilización política de una tragedia. Esa es la impresión que dejó Romney al que sugerir que el Gobierno había distorsionado los datos sobre Libia, lo que le dio a Obama la oportunidad de una de sus mejores líneas de la noche: “Yo soy el presidente, el comandante en jefe, asumo la responsabilidad de todo lo ocurrido, y sus acusaciones me resultan ofensivas”.

Just in the past 2 days.... the tide has shifted. BIG  TIME!! First the New York Times now has the Benghazi story on the FRONT page,  top of the fold. CBS now has it's reporters chasing down the "Fast and Furious"  story and even Eric Holder. Guess what's happened? The press has decided that  Obama is going to lose, and saving him is no longer of any value to them. He's gonna look more tired and more  "grey" as the last 2 weeks go by. At the same time Mitt Romney is funny, and  smiling and looking and acting "kool" and confident.

 This will lead to a bigger  win than many folks have expected maybe even 7-8 points...Watch all the Senate  races fall the same direction.

My 2 weeks prediction is: Romney 53 Obama 46

Very early on, before this campaign started in earnest, live or die, I publicly cast my lot with Gallup and Rasmussen. As a poll addict going back to 2000, these are the outlets that have always played it straight. It's got nothing to do with politics and everything to do with credibility and not wanting to kid myself. So when an outlet like Gallup tells me Romney is up seven-points, 52-45%, among those who have already voted, that's very big news.
