Emilio was the model for iconic Oscar statue, which he posed for in 1928. He was recruited by Mexican actress, Hollywood star, and future wife Dolores del Rio when then MGM chief art director Cedric Gibbons said he was looking for a model to help design the trophy.

Dolores thought he had the perfect physique for Gibbons' vision of a Crusader Knight. Though initially reluctant, Emilio was eventually persuaded to strip down and pose with a large sword, giving us the famous golden statue coveted by actors ever since.

According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the origins of the name are uncertain, but "a popular story has been that an Academy librarian and eventual executive director, Margaret Herrick, thought it resembled her Uncle Oscar and said so; and that the Academy staff began referring to it as Oscar." The name was used in a column by Sidney Skolsky in 1934, and officially used by the Academy itself starting in 1939.

gracias por la info lo que entendi es que margarita tenia un tio que se llamaba oscar y como le gustaba mucho ese nombre se lo puso a la estuata jaja que el nombre fue usado en las columnas de sidney en 1934 o algo asi y en 1939 fue usado oficialmente por la academia
