Janae Colvard, 30, who is a nurse, was admitted to Banner Gateway Medical Center's emergency room last week, with what she believed was kidney stones. But when a baby's head started crowning, she realized she was giving birth. She told Azcentral.com: 'Everybody kept asking me, "Is there any chance you could be pregnant? Is there any chance you could be pregnant?" 'And I was like, no, I mean it had been almost nine months.'
But literally moments after the words were out of her mouth, she was proved very wrong. 'As soon as I reached my hand down there, I felt a head. And that's when I realised I was having a baby,' she recalled. The pair are taking their daughter's arrival in their stride though, and clearly seem besotted with the infant. Miss Colvard admitted that the experience is likely to only be the beginning though. 'It has me curious of what more she's going to bring to me for the rest of her life,' she said. Miss Colvard then delivered a healthy baby girl, who she named Isabel - and the remarkable news to the father. Brian Ojinaga, 30, who is a longtime friend and hadn't seen Miss Colvard in seven months, is unsurprisingly still reeling from the shock. He says he is both proud and nervous, but admits, 'I wasn't expecting this.'
