New Obama slogan has long ties to  Marxism, socialism

By Victor Morton

April 30, 2012

The Obama campaign apparently didn’t look backwards into  history when selecting its new campaign slogan, “Forward” — a word with a long  and rich association with European Marxism.

Many Communist and radical publications and entities  throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name “Forward!” or its foreign  cognates. Wikipedia has an entire section called “Forward (generic name of  socialist publications).”

“The name Forward carries a special meaning in socialist  political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist,  communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications,” the online  encyclopedia explains.

The slogan “Forward!” reflected the conviction of European  Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the march of history, which  would move forward past capitalism and into socialism and communism.

The Obama campaign released its new campaign slogan Monday in  a 7-minute video. The title card has simply the word “Forward” with the “O” having the familiar Obama logo from 2008. It will be played at rallies this  weekend that mark the Obama re-election campaign’s official  beginning.

There have been at least two radical-left publications named “Vorwaerts” (the German word for “Forward”). One was the daily newspaper of the  Social Democratic Party of Germany whose writers included Friedrich Engels and  Leon Trotsky. It still publishes as the organ of Germany’s SDP, though that  party has changed considerably since World War II. Another was the 1844 biweekly  reader of the Communist League. Karl Marx, Engels and Mikhail Bakunin are among  the names associated with that publication.

East Germany named its Army soccer club ASK Vorwaerts Berlin  (later FC Vorwaerts Frankfort).

Vladimir Lenin founded the publication “Vpered” (the Russian  word for “forward”) in 1905. Soviet propaganda film-maker Dziga Vertov made a  documentary whose title is sometimes translated as “Forward, Soviet” (though  also and more literally as “Stride, Soviet”).

Conservative critics of the Obama administration have noted  numerous ties to radicalism and socialists throughout Mr. Obama’s history, from  his first political campaign being launched from the living room of two former  Weather Underground members, to appointing as green jobs czar Van Jones, a  self-described communist.

OBAMA'S SLOGAN: "Forward Forward" A Hitler Youth  Anthem

A few people have commented on the fact that Obama's 2012  campaign slogan 'Forward' has a long history in socialist and communist  ideology. The most chilling and in your face example I've seen so far is from  the National Socialist Hitler Youth Anthem "Forward,Forward." The themes of  youth have always been a big part of Obama's campaigns, but seeing his campaign  slogan being sung by actual Hitler Youth Members really brings it all together  and creeps me out. As I said on Twitter, those who fail to learn from history  are doomed to release it as campaign material. Forward Forward.

Re: “We Can’t Wait,” until the crook ends in jail

Mr. Obama’s campaign has produced a stark commercial that raises questions about whether Mr. Romney would have followed the same course as the president, who ordered the attack on Bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan one year ago this week, despite objections from some of the president’s senior military advisers.

On Sunday, a campaign adviser to Mr. Obama, Robert Gibbs, reiterated that criticism of Mr. Romney during an appearance on “Meet the Press.”  “I don’t think it’s clear that he would” have given the order, Mr. Gibbs said.

By referring to Mr. Carter, the Romney campaign is tying President Obama to a previous Democratic president considered by many to be weak on national security issues. But the comparison is somewhat flawed, given that while the signature military raid Mr. Carter ordered — to rescue United States Embassy hostages in Tehran in 1980 — was a failure, the raid Mr. Obama ordered against Bin Laden was a success.

In making an issue of Mr. Romney’s theoretical handling of the terrorist, the Obama campaign has been seizing on a 2007 quote by the candidate about going after Bin Laden, in which he said, “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth and spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.”

But a few days later Mr. Romney said of Bin Laden, “He will die.” And after the raid, Mr. Romney praised both the troops involved in the operation and Mr. Obama for his actions.

In a news conference Monday with the Japanese prime minister, Mr. Obama accused Mr. Romney of flip-flopping on the question of whether he would have pursued Osama bin Laden, telling reporters — without mentioning Mr. Romney by name — that “I assume that people meant what they said when they said it.”

Mr. Obama urged people to look at Mr. Romney’s past statements as they assess his current ones.

“I said I’d go after Bin Laden if we had a clear shot at him. And I did,” Mr. Obama said. “If there are others who have said one thing and now suggest they’d do something else, then I’d let them go ahead and explain it.”

Re: “We Can’t Wait,” a slogan that aides said Mr. Obama

Welcome to Dispatches, your round-up of the latest news from the frontlines of the War on Women. Have a story from your state or an idea on how to push back? Share them here and fight back against the War on Women.

Here’s yet another reminder why now its more important than ever to stand with Planned Parenthood. Literally hours after a district court judge prevented the state of Texas from stripping Planned Parenthood of funding, a lone 5th Circuit Court of Appeals judge lifted the stay and said the ban can, and should, move forward. The legal maneuvering came after the Texas Attorney General argued to the judge that funding Planned Parenthood was akin to funding a terrorist organization. I won’t re-hash the reasons why this is a dangerous and reckless legal argument to make here and instead suggest that so long as clinics continue to get bombed, elected officials shot and doctors murdered that this kind of intentional invocation by elected officials on the right is in fact stoking and encouraging of violence against women and health care providers no matter how hard they deny it.

It’s not just the state of Texas comparing women’s health care providers to terrorist organizations. Right wing hate radio compares the contraception mandate to being forced to kill your own family. For real.

With all these attacks on Planned Parenthood, here’s a piece to reinforce what is truly at stake this November.

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) may be too busy campaigning to actually show up and vote for much of anything these days, but he always has time to co-sponsor another anti-abortion bill with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN). But don’t forget ladies, there’s no war on women going on.

Democrats look to hold a vote soon on the Paycheck Fairness Act which would update and strengthen the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Naturally Republicans oppose the measure while Mitt Romney wishes the entire issue would just go away.

Among those leading the fight on equal pay is Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) as this post makes very clear.

In North Carolina, a ballot initiative that would enshrine anti-gay discrimination would also remove domestic violence protections. while this pastor thinks parents should punch “girly” 4 year olds so they don’t become gay.

Media Ignoring Michelle Obama’s Expensive Wardrobe

by Andrea Ryan May 2, 2012

By: Andrea Ryan

Last month at the Kids’ Choice Awards, Michelle Obama wore an outfit designed by New York-based, uber-expensive designer, Wes Gordon. His clothing commands prices in the thousands of dollars and can only be found in the elite stores of the super wealthy. If you enjoy spending more than $4,000 on a pair of shorts…yes that is three zeroes after the comma…then you might like this little jacket from one of Michelle Obama’s favorite designers. It’s a steal for only $2,250. Of course, we never heard one peep out of the Liberal mainstream media on Michelle Obama’s high-priced clothing.

But, that all changed now that Mitt Romney has become the presumptive Republican nominee for president.

Suddenly, the media is very interested in Ann Romney’s choice of pricey clothes…

The fashion house that makes the nearly $1,000 blouse worn by Ann Romney on morning television earlier this week tells ABC News that they had nothing to do with the wardrobe choice, remarking that they’d prefer to stay out of politics.

“We had nothing to do with it,” a rep for designer Reed Krakoff said. “She must have bought it from Saks or Bergdorf’s, we definitely didn’t send it to her.”

“It’s 100 percent a Reed Krakoff shirt, but we 100 percent didn’t send it to her,” the rep added. “We don’t get involved politically.”

The shirt, an item in the label’s 2012 Spring/Summer collection, retails for $990, and for those shopping, is called the “The Reed Audubon Silk Shirt.”

The price of the shirt was first reported by Stylite.com.

Mrs. Romney does not have a stylist, according to an aide with the Romney campaign, and is likely to have purchased the shirt on her own.

A spokeswoman for the Romney campaign declined to comment on Mrs. Romney’s fashion choices.

This isn’t the first time that Mrs. Romney has been tweaked on her fashion choices.

In March, a little girl on the ropeline at a campaign event in Illinois asked Mrs. Romney if her watch was “real.”

Since the MSM has developed a new interest in high-end clothing, here’s a glimpse of Michelle Obama’s expensive, designer wardrobe worn during her $4M tax payer-funded jaunt to Hawaii last December.

So what's the special occasion this time and why is she overdressed for it?

Re: “We Can’t Wait,” a slogan that aides said Mr. Obama

We simply can't say it enough -- thank you.

After Republican Speaker Boehner’s admission that the Republicans’ hold on the House is in jeopardy, we are so proud to announce that we exceeded our April fundraising goal and broke yet another fundraising record. In the last week, you helped us raise over $1.1 million to win a Democratic House! On April 30th alone, over 20,000 of you made a donation.

Your generous contributions are being put to work immediately.

In Arizona, we are fighting to keep Gabby Giffords’ seat in Democratic hands. Your support has helped our Democratic candidate, Ron Barber, put ads on the air about his commitment to protecting Medicare. When National Republicans launched misleading ads against Ron, you helped us raise $150,000, and we responded with an ad laying out the facts. You can watch both ads here.

We have also reserved media time in 26 critical Republican districts nationwide to help our Democratic candidates fight attacks from Republicans and their secret money-funded SuperPACs. Thanks to your support, we can expand to even more races.

We are well on our way to having the most sophisticated get-out-the-vote and rapid response operation in the history of the race for the House. Field organizers are already on the ground in 36 districts recruiting volunteers and talking directly to voters.

So from the bottom of my heart, thank you again. The work that you do to help Democrats is awe-inspiring -- whether it is signing petitions to make your voices heard or sharing generous contributions with us -- you are the backbone of our party. We will win in November because of your unwavering support and determination.

Yours truly,

P.S. If you haven't already, the best way to stay up to date on the latest House race news is to Follow Us on Twitter or Like Us on Facebook. Thank you as always.

Chip in $5 to help reach a major milestone against Tea Party extremism.
Take action now!
CREDO Action | more than a network, a movement.

Tea Party name-calling won't stop us.

Dear Ricardo,

Tea Party Republican extremists are getting frightened — and they're saying anything they can to marginalize our growing effort to hold them accountable.

Joe Walsh called us "liberal elites with an extreme agenda."1 Mike Fitzpatrick says we're "a little organization... out of San Francisco, California."2 And Tea Party King Steve King says we're all just "counter-cultural leftists."3

But the facts speak for themselves. Nearly 32,000 concerned Americans have already gone to bat to restore a measure of sanity to Congress.

Now we're on the verge of another major milestone that will be impossible to marginalize.

Chip in $5 to help reach $1,000,000 to hold Tea Party extremists accountable.

It's ironic that these Tea Party Republicans who are giving polluters free rein to make us sick, slashing medical benefits for hundreds of thousands of seniors and even voting to block the Violence Against Women Act are calling us extreme.

But it's a distraction, pure and simple.

Obama launches campaign in empty  arena Organizers even had people move to  floor to project larger crowd

(BREITBART) — Barack Obama  launched his campaign in unspectacular fashion today at Ohio State University,  the largest college in the crucial swing state. A photo posted to twitter by  Mitt Romney’s campaign spokesman Ryan Williams reveals sparse attendance. The  above image, according to Williams, was taken during the President’s first  official campaign speech.

During the speech, Obama ripped into the presumptive GOP  nominee and discussed nation building at home, but the most newsworthy item of  the day was not the talking points Obama delivered: it was the crowd… or lack  thereof.

According to ABC News, the Obama campaign had expected an “overflow” of people. Instead, the arena looked half-empty. The Columbus  Dispatch reports that Obama organizers even had people move from the seats to  the floor of the gym in order to project a larger crowd on  television.
